CONDUCT AND SAFETY RULES
- Check trail conditions and alpine touring trail status before heading out.
- You must purchase an access pass before entering the ski trails or alpine touring trails.
- Follow the markers indicated on the alpine touring map and respect all signage.
- Respect the opening and closing hours of designated areas: from 9 a.m. until sunset, depending on the day. Ski tourers are responsible for verifying the daily sunset time.
- No patrol services are provided on the ascent trail, even during the ski area's operating hours.
- Stay visible at all times and climb in a single file.
- Descending on the ascent trail is strictly prohibited.
- Access to closed trails is prohibited.
- Travel only in areas where both ascent and descent are authorized.
- Ski tourers are responsible for reporting any situation requiring assistance.
- Cellular coverage may be weak or unavailable in certain areas.
AUTONOMOUS ALPINE TOURING
(outside the ski area's operating hours)
- Autonomous alpine touring is not permitted at Mont Rigaud. Alpine touring is only allowed from 9 a.m. until sunset, on days when the ski area is in operation.
- In case of emergency, call 911. You are responsible for your own safety, for reporting any emergency, and for any evacuation that may be required. First aid knowledge is strongly recommended.
- The ski area reserves the right to charge a minimum fee of $250 for any assistance requested outside operating hours and/or outside marked trails and designated areas.
MOUNTAIN SAFETY TIPS
- Do not tour alone (groups of at least three are recommended) and bring your own communication device. In case of an accident, your group may have to provide first aid, seek help, and carry out an evacuation. Be prepared!
- Alpine touring involves sustained effort both uphill and downhill. It is often colder at the summit. Ensure you are physically fit and properly dressed. It is recommended to carry: a whistle, food, warm spare clothing, a first aid kit, and a headlamp.
- Inform someone of your outing (a guardian angel). Share your departure time, planned route, and expected return time. Notify your guardian angel as soon as you are back.
- Do not leave any waste or trace of your passage. Practice eco‑friendly behavior!
IMPORTANT NOTE
Dogs are allowed on the Alpine Touring area. However, for the safety of our customers, by respect for others and the environment, they must be on leash AT ALL TIMES. You must also insure to clean up and pick up after them. Dogs are not allowed inside the main chalet.
