HOW TO KNOW IF LESSONS ARE CANCELED?

12 January 2018

If lessons are cancelled for bad weather reasons, an alert (in red) will appear on the home page and « NEWS » section of our website (which is updated every morning), on our official Facebook page and our phone system will have a specific message on that effect when choosing the « SKI CONDITIONS » option.

IMPORTANT NOTE > It is your responsibility to make these verifications before coming to the ski resort.

It is never easy to make the decision to maintain or temporarily interrupt the operations of the Ski School and/or ski resort. Many factors are to be considered in decision making.

IN CASE OF EXTREME COLD
When the hourly forecasts predict temperatures colder than -20°C (all day and before the wind chill), we then start considering the possibility of canceling lessons. However, the decision also depends on additional factors, such as: the presence of the sun, wind and humidity.

As the forecasts regularly change, no decision is taken in advance. If we decide to cancel lessons, the decision is usually taken in the morning (around 6am).

When it is very cold or when the wind chill* is significant: cover as much exposed skin as possible. The best way to avoid the dangers of wind chill is to dress warmly, stay active and take more frequent breaks!

*Wind chill forecasts are not a true temperature, but represent the sensation of cold on bare skin.

For more information, we invite you to download our How to dress checklist in the « PRACTICAL TIPS » section of the website.

IN CASE OF RAIN AND/OR FREEZING RAIN
When hourly forecasts predict more than 5 mm of precipitation over the whole day, we then start considering the possibility of canceling lessons. However, the decision also depends on additional factors, such as: probabilities (%), temperature, the presence of the sun, wind, and humidity.

As the forecasts regularly change, no decision is taken in advance. If we decide to cancel lessons, the decision is usually taken in the morning (around 6am).

IN CASE OF SNOW STORM
Snow is a skier's paradise! We never plan to cancel lessons in the event of a snowstorm - unless the winds come from the NORTHWEST and blow at over 70 km / hour.

Plan your trips accordingly and be careful on the road.
